Memphis Drum Shop was proud to host yet another successful U of M senior recital. C.J. Manning (top, bass) played extremely well along with the rest of his band. Chad Anderson (bottom), one of Memphis Drum Shop’s premier customers & creator of www.Cymbalholic.com, supplied the back beat.

Robinson Bridgeforth is one of Memphis up-and-coming great musicians. Robinson has been blessed with the gift of playing drums since the age of 2, and from then on, music was one of the most important things in his life. At the ripe age of 10, he started to travel throughout the country to places such as North Carolina, Houston, Detroit, and most recently Baltimore playing for the National Baptist Congress Children’s Rally and Youth Rally. At the age of 11, Robinson was ranked co-section leader of the Stax Percussion Ensemble under the leadership of Jahleel Eli and played on the popular arrangement of “Shaft” arranged by Jahleel Eli. When he was 14, Robinson was called to do soundchecks for the Boys of Harlem Choir and the renowned soul group, The Manhattans. He was also given his first endorsement by Los Cabos Drumsticks of of Canada at the age of fourteen. Now at 15 and his first-time-ever trying out for both, Robinson was awarded 3rd chair out of 150 percussionists throughout west Tennessee in the top band for All-West Concert Band and awarded 1st chair in the second band for the University of Memphis High School Honor Band.
Robinson could recently be seen playing with the local gospel group The Followers of Christ, and has had the privilege of playing along with other local gospel artists such as Darrell Petties, Kevin Davidson, and the River City Mass Choir. some of his musical influences include Tony Royster, Jr., Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, and Vinnie Colaiuta; but he states most of his influences come from Memphis musicians such as Clifford “Pee Wee” Jackson, Jahleel Eli, Marcio Walker, Robert Jefferson, Stanley Randolph, James Sexton, Terrence Clark and James Robertson. We see great things in Robinson’s future. Stay the course.
